Former Greenwood resident dies in Cleveland
George W. Crandall formerly of Greenwood township died in Cleveland Ohio on June 6 1947 at age 63 years 11 months and 20 days. He leaves widow Bertha of Cleveland a stepson Owen Hanniig three half-brothers Ray David Ira Van Valkenburg of Greenwood and three half-sisters Lillian LaRue Montrose H D Carstens Silverton Oregon and Hilla Van Valkenburg Detroit. Funeral services were held in Cleveland on Sunday June 8 and burial occurred at Hillcreat Cemetery Greenwood township on Tuesday June 10 1947.

Partners Alton Haight Russell Otterbine and Wendell Drallette manage the operation and distribute in Muskegon Flint and Lansing while producing the lithiated lemon drink Tom Collins Jr First for Thirst. The plant runs twelve hours daily with six workers and 60 hourly capacity, featuring stainless steel mixing and a fully automatic filler and carbonator.

Severe electric storm devastates Clare Friday evening
A Friday evening thunderstorm lashed Clare causing fire at the Charles Ford home and extensive damage to power lines and transformers. Lightning demolished a chimney at the Bert McLaughlin residence, sparked smoke and water damage, and slight shocks were felt by a resident. Mt Pleasant Man Confesses to 46 Robberies
Charles Vernon Davis 21, a Mt Pleasant area resident, confessed to a weeks long crime wave across central Michigan. He admitted seven motor vehicle thefts and forty six break ins in multiple towns including Rosebush, Clare, Weidman, Remus, and Middleton. Police recovered firearms ammunition money and a stolen jeep, and a 15 year old Clare county boy was linked to several robberies. Davis is held for probate court after arraignment.
