Freeman Oil sells wells and equipment to Chapman Co
Freeman Oil Company officials announced last weekend the sale of producing leases wells and field rolling stock to Chapman Oil Co. Leases and 12 to 15 wells are in the Headquarters and Freeman fields with production reported between 250 and 350 barrels per day. The deal includes a large equipment inventory while Freeman retains wildcat spreads royalties and real estate and will continue operations from Clare offices.

Official notice from Bishop Haas announces Father Daniel Brophy will be transferred from Glare to Indian River. After two and a half years at St. Cecilia’s, he led the parish from a deficit to profit, beautified the church, rebuilt the rectory, organized the outdoor Christmas Crib, installed stained glass, and oversaw religious instruction and Baptisms and First Communions for 1944.

Consumers Power Company names David H. Gerhard to head the Saginaw Division effective July 1. He leaves the Central Michigan Division based in Alma where he has been manager since 1939, succeeding Fred P. Cope who resigns for health reasons after 25 years. Gerhard’s replacement is Herbert L. Ziegenbein, previously assistant to the Saginaw Division manager.

Death in Isabella Township man dies in sleep
James Fitzpatrick was found dead in his bed at home in Isabella township Isabella county at 9 00 Sunday morning. He and his wife had attended four funerals in Midland Saturday and returned home late, suffering a heart attack while sleeping. He was found when the family called for breakfast. Survived by a bereaved wife and three children Marilyn Loraine and Jack at home with other relatives and many friends. He was laid to rest in Mt Pleasant cemetery at 10 00 Wednesday morning.
