Mrs. Leo Hampton treated for minor injuries at Clare Hospital after a collision 2.8 miles north of US 10 on US 27 at 9:30 pm. Leo Hampton rode north in the Hampton car while Donald J Bouchey traveling south swerved left to avoid a stopped vehicle and struck the Hampton auto. Fronts damaged, drivers uninjured.
A dance sponsored by the Rebekah Club will be held at Clare City Hall on Saturday evening Line 29 with music by the Spicer Brothers and Shirley Hales. Admission is 50e per couple and 26¢ extra for the lady.
Fr. C. D. Brophy was made an honored guest at a farewell gathering Thursday evening at St. George’s church parlors. Dominic McConnell announced the event and Ted Bowler presented a purse of 937.50 from parishioners and local businessmen as thanks for Father Brophy’s two and a half years of service.
Mrs. Amos Waters passed away Saturday evening in Samaritan Hospital Bay City after ten days confinement. Born Mary Luella Wright October 28 1875 in White Cloud Michigan she died June 22 1946 in Bay City aged 70 7 24. She married Amos Waters April 25 1893 in Saginaw later moving to Sherman township then to a farm. Survived by husband two brothers Leroy Wright Detroit and Charles Wright Kentucky among relatives and friends. Funeral at St Cecilia 10:00 Tuesday Requiem High Mass Rev Fr J Shubra officiating interment St Cecilia Cemetery. Attending included niece Mrs Harold Moran Alpena brother Thomas Waters Saginaw and niece Mrs Leroy Nish Detroit.
The Clare women golfers defeated Ithaca Women 3 to 0 to win their third match. Five and a half foursomes played. Clare lost one, tied one, and won the rest. Harriet Naumes led with 16 and Mary Brewer with 15 on selected blind holes.
Tuesday marked the start of summer fishing with all state waters open to take all species of game fish. Regulations stay mostly unchanged from last year with limits on bass pike panfish and white bass, while inland lakes see minor local rule variations and anglers face gaps in tackle cabins boats and bait.

The Youth Guidance Council will meet at the library tonight with Doug las Paxton presiding for the election of officers and adoption of a charter and statements of purpose. Action will be taken on a proposed location for youths activities with facilities for refreshments and gatherings. boy and girl organizations are invited.

Meetings set for twice monthly on second and fourth Mondays at 7:30 p.m. Furniture donations sought via phone pickup.
Minnie Pearl Runyan Langworthy of LeRoy Michigan dies Saturday June 22 1946 at Reed City Hospital aged 64. She married Andrew James Langworthy in 1898 and left seven children thirty five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral held at Le Roy Methodist Church with interment in LeRoy cemetery.
Charles Henry Ciliax of Grant township died after illness at Clare Hospital on Wednesday evening. Funeral services will be held at Doherty Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Saturday with Rev. Chas Kleinhardt officiating, and interment in Maple Grove Cemetery at Harvtigon.
Rotary members heard Rudolph Schaeffer of San Francisco share impressions of Clare from a native son’s view. New president Dr. Stewart McArthur reaffirmed the club’s “Service Above Self” goal and welcomed officers George White Don Richardson Larry Jackson Stuart Bicknell Frank LaGoe with Omer Parent named special auditor.
Public Law 383 of 79th Congress approved May 16 1946 outlines repatriation of 228 000 World War I personnel buried outside the continental United States. The plan allows options including return to a national cemetery near home or burial abroad with government cost coverage and local burial aid. First shipments expected year end with inquiries to next of kin starting immediately.
The Sentinel announces office closure for Independence Day and requires all community news letters to reach the post office by Monday, with all other news matter submitted one day early. Advertisers should place their copy one day early next week.
Clare golfers seek their first 1946 win as CMGA sends a squad to meet the Ithaca club at the Ithaca course this week. Dick Dowdy and Carl Schuler led Portland to a 14 to 13 win over Clare on June 20 in rain as low scores by Penglase Hampton Elden marked Clare's effort.
Mrs. Al Young passed away in Traverse City at 6:00 PM Tuesday after two years of illness. Born Blanche Pearl Chappel in South Lima Ohio on May 4 1881 she moved to Michigan with her parents and lived in Saginaw and Clare. She married Albert Young in Saginaw on June 11 1902 and had six children with one baby boy who died at birth. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Clare and the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are her husband Al her children Bernice Aubrey Clare June Jack Jane Ann and a daughter in law, seven grandchildren one sister and many relatives. The service will be at Case Chapel Saginaw at 2:00 PM Friday with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Dr. A. B. Mulder was made a member of the Emeritus Club during commencement week in Ann Arbor. The ceremony included a gold certificate and an M pin. The Mulders attended with hosts Mr. and Mrs. Carl Reading at the alumni dinner. Also at the reunions were Judge Ray Hart and Atty. Byron Gallagher and Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Wylie.
The 1946 Camp Rotary near Clare opens with seventy three Scouts from Akron Saginaw Mt Pleasant enrolled for the first week. The council covers Saginaw Gratiot Clare Isabella and Tuscola counties. Staff includes director Klapp and assistants Buchanan Beckmann Meyer Abbott. Order of the Arrow inducted ten members.
A penny supper will be served Saturday night at the Rebekah hall in Farwell. Serving begins at 6 00 p m and proceeds go toward redecorating the hall.
A baby clinic will be held at Clare City Hall on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Babies will be immunized against smallpox and diphtheria at no charge if mothers wish. This event offers a chance to keep babies healthy with medical support and heart department oversight.
