Nettie Hachmuth, 74, of Comstock Park, died Friday from a cerebral hemorrhage after seven months of bed confinement following a car accident. Funeral services were held Monday with family attending including Mrs Donald Holbrook Mrs James Gillespie Mrs Frank Hachmuth and Carol Hachmuth and Donald and James Holbrook.

Methodist Church Board Meets Here Monday Evening
The Clare Methodist Church Board met Monday evening in the church parlors for the first nesting of the new conference year. Rev Charles B. Hahn opened with remarks and prayer. Officers reported favorably and plans for distributing The Upper Room were discussed. The board voted to underwrite part of camp travel expenses for youth to Angleblossom and Lake Louise camps. Theo Wallington presented Post War Planning plans and Mrs. William Gardon and Rev. Hahn summarized conference notes. The meeting closed with benediction.

Mrs W A Hooker of Farwell died at her son Ross Hooker’s home in Owosso and was buried beside her husband at Grass Lake. Horace Joyner, a longtime resident east of Clare, died of a heart attack Monday morning near old US 10. Funeral services for Joyner are set for Sunday at Thurston Funeral Home with Rev Harold Walden officiating and burial in Chetty Grove cemetery.

Mr and Mrs Merle Esterline of Farwell Michigan learned their son Pfc Anthony G Esterline was killed in action on November 16 1944 near Montrequienne France. The War Department confirmed that he died in a foxhole while assuring comrades there was no one near. Immediate family effects will be mailed and further information will follow.

A and P Salvages 7 Million Cartons in Michigan
A and P Food Stores in Michigan report salvaging seven million reusable paper cartons yearly to meet wartime needs. Vice President C Wall says the program, started last year, trains clerks to flatten and return cartons promptly to Grand Rapids and Detroit warehouses.
