Auto Damaged As Driver Avoids Serious Accident
An automobile owned by A. H. Horton and driven by his son Thomas was damaged when the driver swerved into a ditch to dodge another car and hit an abandoned road grader. The grader lay four feet from the road edge, partly hidden by weeds, and had been left in the right of way for months, posing a traffic danger. No injuries were reported.

George Pemberton aged 45 a Hayes township resident suddenly went insane early Wednesday arming himself with a shotgun and ammunition and evading capture until Sheriff Edmond Woods of Harrison apprehended him in a tense car exchange at his Page farm ten miles north of Harrison Pemberton claimed a Chicago gangster was after him and fought the sheriff before surrendering and being jailed awaiting state commitment He has a wife and three small children.

An educational display in the Rexall drug store shows relics collected by Mr. and Mrs. George Vandewarker of Colonville from the western United States. Items include finds from Yellow Stone, Petrified Forest, Tonto Cliff Dwellings, Craters of the Moon, Carlsbad Cavern and desert ruins in Arizona. The exhibit notes prehistoric settlers moved into the Salt and Gila valleys around 600 B C to 1200–1300 A D.

Funeral for Mrs David Wood Held at Thurston Funeral Home
Mrs David Wood died recently and funeral services were held at Thurston Funeral Home conducted by Rev F N Bates of the Sazle. Burial followed at Cherry Grove. Ylora Abbott, born 1871 near Lapeer, married David Wood in Eagle district before moving to upper peninsula.
