Albert Garchow Dies at Clare Farm Home
Albert Garchow lifelong Grant township resident died Sunday afternoon at his Clare area home. Born June 41 1892 he served as a corporal in WWI and married Vina Hschenweck in 1920. Survived by wife three children two brothers and two sisters with funeral at Thurston's Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Charles Kleinhardt. Interment Cherry Grove Cemetery with American Legion honors.

Donald E. Holbrook attended a district War Bond and Stamp committee meeting in Grand Rapids as committeemen from 25 counties gathered. Frank N. Isbey said Michigan led eight briefing states with 21.8 percent above quota. California 3 percent, Ohio 10 percent. The June to July quotas rise to 800 million and 1 billion dollars, urging 10 percent of earnings in War Stamps and Bonds. Clare County’s June quota is 17 800. General Motors reports 99.4 percent of employees signed up for 7 percent payroll investments. Ford plans 55 000 to 65 000 bonds weekly.

Mill dam accident injures William Archambault
William Archambault a fifteen year old youth, son of Mr and Mrs Jennings Archambault, was severely injured Friday afternoon at the mill dam while swimming. He dove onto a submerged pile striking his head and shoulder, received first aid and xrays showing a cracked shoulder bone, then was sent to Northway Clinic at Mt Plexart for further care. A head wound required two stitches.

Rosebush Child Critically Hurt in Auto Crash
Three and a half year old Sharron Walker, daughter of Mrs. Dora Walker of Rosebush, was struck by Frances Smich 24, near the Walker home. Michigan merchants unite under Treasury supervision to boost War Stamp and Bond sales. Clare Isabella and Gratiot counties form district twenty three with Emery Freeman of Mt. Pleasant named district chairman and Oscar Webber state chairman. Michigan goal is 48 million dollars for July 1 1942 to April 31 1943.
