Michigan fish sorter speeds hatchery work at state facility
A Michigan designed three tier fish sorter is on trial at the state hatchery system. Tests indicate the device can sort about 20 000 trout in 114 hours, reducing labor by at least 80 percent. It separates legal and sub legal trout and fingerlings, speeding releases and saving fish food. Credit goes to the Conservation Department fish division and the Roscommon forest fire experiment station for development.
