Clare Officials Hit By Sudden Resignations

In an ironic turn, Clare mayor Charles Clark and Clare County Board chair Douglas Flinn both resigned Monday after meetings. Flinn cited time constraints and personal matters, praising fellow commissioners Thomas Bradley and Stanley Oman as fine gentlemen. Chairman pro tem Arnold Stamman said he does not seek the role permanently. The clerk was asked to seek replacements for Flinn’s seat in District 6.

Two youths killed in separate Clare area accidents

Sunday accidents in Clare claimed two youths lives. Richard Alartabsor Laverty of Farwell died after a car rollover near Grane Avenue caused by a high speed pass attempt. George Gerbel officiated at services for the other victim, Brian Joh Devlin, 17, who died when his motorcycle struck a chain across a private road at Littlefield Lake. Both crashes were investigated by Pleasant State Police.
