Clare IOOF Lodge met in Farwell Hall with strong turnout as Ernest Irwin announced a Grand Lodge dispensation to proceed with building plans for a new hall north of town near the Clare Tourist Park after the downtown downtown fire last January. Horace Fancon was re elected noble grand Calvin Cotton vice grand. Emil Giers and William Artcliff named delegates to Grand Lodge with Irwin as district deputy again. The meeting closed with invited guests for a birthday supper.

Clare Isabella Barracks No. 228 of the World War I Veterans met at the VFW Hall Sunday at 2 p.m. with 21 members present. Commander Vern Elwood opened with a prayer by Chaplain Frank Thomas, a visitor from Ewart Barracks No. 402 attended, two new members were pledged, and Department Commander Charles Cooper led discussions. Stanley Charles Williams of Haslett received a traffic ticket on Memorial Day after a left turn into West Fifth Street from US-27 caused a collision with Barbara J. Stiff of Mount Pleasant. Also, Thomas Randall of Clare pled guilty in Clare Municipal Court on May 27 to driving under the influence after a Michigan State Police arrest earlier the same day on US-27. he was fined 54.30 dollars and costs by Justice William B.
