Former Clare Man John R. OGrady Dies in Detroit
John R. OGrady formerly of Vernon township died at his Detroit home on May 20 after a three month illness. He served in World War I and worked at Briggs Manufacturing. He is survived by Bertha Claeys, his wife, three sisters, one brother, six nephews and six nieces. Funeral services were held May 24 at Verheyden Funeral Home and St. Clair Church with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

County Horsemen Sponsor Pulling Contests June 26
The Clare County Horsemen Association will sponsor horse pulling contests at Clare Tourist Park on Saturday June 26 starting at 1:00 PM. Third Dairy Day Promises To Be Great Success
Four county dairy day set for Friday June 18 with a dairymen banquet on Thursday at Hotel Doherty. Charles Figg of the State Department of Agriculture will speak at the banquet. Man Arrested in Clare Set Jail Fire Case Gets Fine
Charley Koeh of Clare pleaded guilty to assaulting an officer after resisting police and drunken conduct. He was fined 50 dollars plus 7.80 in costs and ordered to pay a 10 dollar taxi fare. He struck an officer and set fire to paper in his jail cell.

Farwell Pastor Killed as Car Hits Home Scene
The Rev. Oliver J. Vasbinder 47, pastor of Farwell Baptist Church, was fatally struck Sunday evening when a car driven by Dorothy Weaver 16 left Mill Road near Farwell. Two young girls were injured and a passenger, Barbara 11, remained at the organ as the tragedy unfolded.

Flames Destroy Clare Infirmary Building In Fire
Early Saturday morning a fire destroyed the Clare Infirmary residence once leased as a veterans memorial building located south of Harrison on the Clare to Harrison highway. Firefighters faced flames driven by wind as they arrived around 6:00 a.m. caretakers Melvin and Mrs. Norman were away on vacation. The Harrison VFW Post and Auxiliary headquarters were lost along with flags and paraphernalia.

Clare Community Council Approves United Fund Plan
The Clare Community Council met in the City Library on Tuesday evening. Harold B. Hughes was elected president and Mrs Harold Fleming treasurer with Mrs Frank Hochstetler as secretary. The group approved a plan to solicit county families under the state United Health and Welfare Board and Hughes conferred in Lansing with board members. Next meeting set for September 28 at 8:30 p.m. in the Library seeking representatives from every society.
