Michigan Expands Public Fishing Access Across 54 Sites
The Conservation Department plans 54 public fishing site upgrades across southern and northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. Projects include access roads parking facilities ramps toilets fences and boundary markers at 22 northern sites and 12 upper peninsula locations plus 20 southern sites. Completion will boost developed fishing access for residents and visitors statewide.

Ludwig Yaeger died at 3:15 AM Saturday June 30 1951 at his Hamilton Township Michigan home after four years of ill health. He was 84 years seven months six days old and survived by two sons Otto and Henry and two daughters Alvina Rosenthal and Della Burke along with twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 3 at Hall Funeral Home Gladwin and St John’s Lutheran Hamilton with Rev BH Leyter officiating. burial followed in Arthur Township Church cemetery.

Claude Alexander McCreary born February 37 1891 in Clark Michigan died July 10 1954 in Clare after a two and a half year illness ending in a heart attack. The Clare school district held its annual meeting on Monday July 9 with over fifty attendees. Leo Brown was re elected to the board and Earl Ruby was acclaimed. The district set 20 mills total for building and operation and approved funds transfer to finish furniture in the new building. Fire Destroys Irwin Farm Barn Near Clare
The large 40 by 60 foot barn on Ernest Irwin’s Clare area farm was destroyed by fire about 6:00 PM last Monday. Mrs. Irwin and daughter Patsy Schlafley witnessed flames as neighbors rushed to help. only a few pigs could be saved. Fire units responded but the barn and its contents, including a combine and hay, were lost. Insurance covered about $4,000 of the estimated $12,000 loss. Cause listed as spontaneous combustion.
