Ella Buck Honored at Hale Church Jubilee
Mrs. Ella A Buck of Clare Michigan attended a fifty year Jubilee at Hale Baptist Church July 4 to celebrate the completed church edifice. The event honored charter members who built the church starting in 1889 90 with a ladies aid raising over 500 dollars. Buck the only surviving charter member received roses and a letter from Rev Ralph Brown praised her as a giant spiritually while her grandson Pvt Raymond Dafoe sang two baritone solos.

The Sheridan Center Red Cross Unit met at Mrs. Howard Cotton's home on Thursday July 8 with fifteen members and four visitors. Two robes one cushion and 51 bed band covers were finished while material was cut for pillow filling. A large amount of outing and other material was purchased. Wool material for robes is needed along with donations of cloth and material for cutting especially old curtains. Mrs. Harvey Bradley will host the unit on Thursday July 22 at 1 30 p m.

Fire destroys Densmore brooders house killing many chicks
Early Friday morning a 14 by 20 foot two story brooder house on John Densmore’s Clare County farm burned, killing about 1,800 chicks of various ages. The blaze with no local phone access destroyed feed and tools. 200 chicks were saved by the family. Insurance covered part of a $1,000 loss.

Johnston and McKnight Reappointed to Clare School Board
The Clare school district held its annual meeting with President A B Mulder presiding. Trustees Edward G Johnston and Dr Frank W McKnight were unanimously re-elected for three years. Voted to raise operation millage from seven to nine and cut debt millage from six to four for two years to fund boiler replacement while keeping total millage at thirteen. The annual report showed a healthy debt fund balance and efficient administration.

Halls Honored by Clare Community Before Move to Grand Rapids
More than 150 Clare Methodist members and friends honored Dr. and Mrs. John H. Hall at a Tuesday reception. Donald Holbrook summarized the Halls’ 2 1/2 years in Clare and praised their community and church contributions. Triplets Born to Floyd Spicers in Clare
Mr and Mrs Floyd Spicer of Hinkleville welcomed their first triplets at Clare Hospital on Monday evening. The babies Jerry Jimmy and Janice weigh 3 lb 14 1/2 oz 4 lb 2 1/2 oz and 4 lb 2 1/2 oz respectively and all are reported healthy. Shamel Sentenced to Jackson Prison on Break and Enter
Albert Roy Shamel of Millington was arrested July 4 at Zubler Station Harrison while attempting to cash a $90 check signed by his uncle Ed Manwaring. He had prior break in at Randolph Schwitzer’s Hamilton Township home and was bound over to Circuit Court. Judge Ray Hart sentenced him to one to fifteen years in Jackson Prison. Sheriff took him to Jackson.

Lester Leonard passes away at Harrison home
Lester F. Two Killed and Three Seriously Injured in Area
Two people died and three were severely hurt in separate incidents near Harison and Hatton township. Detroit resident Tom McCartney died after a Saturday night collision on US 27 near Harison.
