Auto Cranked In Gear Endangers Four People
Last Friday afternoon a Vernon township man, Ackerman, tested his Dodge before cranking it in front of the Dunlop building on McEwan street. The car lunged forward, breaking his leg, pinning him to the radiator and injuring him while shielding three children as bystanders pulled the vehicle back. Children named Alexander Wylie Wayne and Garth Hall were involved, with Garth knocked down just before the crash.

Three Tourists Injured In City Street Crash

Young Girl Injured Jumping from Ice Truck
Mary Lou Doherty seven-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Doherty of West 7th Street was fatally injured Tuesday noon when she jumped from the rear step of Leon Gleason's ice truck in motion. Two Soldiers Near Drowning At Budd Lake Rescue
Two U.S. soldiers nearly drowned at Budd Lake in Wilson State Park last Saturday afternoon. One man pulled the other to the bottom during an attempted rescue, both reached a flat raft about 100 feet out, life guard Arnold Hughes and a Detroit swimmer arrived, and the men were pulled to shore and revived. This marked the second near drowning at the lake this season with Hughes praised for his quick response.
