Michigan Skiing Forecast Seen Growing in 1971

The 1971 winter sports season is expected to top 1960s records with 463,000 skiers and nearly 44 million dollars in spending across 69 resorts in Michigan. Expansion includes more lifts and runs at Cannonsburg, Mt. Maria, and Apple Mountain, plus village-style facilities with child care, entertainment, and dining.

Michigan Snowmobile Trails Expanded Across Public Areas

The Michigan DNR reports 60 public areas open to snowmobilers with trails in state forests parks and recreation areas. Rules require travel only on designated signed trails with four inches of snow minimum, ban rallies and races, require motor vehicle permits where applicable, define snowmobiles as belt driven tracked machines, and prohibit wheeled vehicles on all trails.
