Clare’s annual winter carnival includes a Friday stag fish fry at Town and Country, a Saturday snowmobile parade with Chief Ritter and his Wildcats, fishing contest, ice games, free rides, bonfires, and a Sunday Penguin Square Dancers performance. Open House Draws Large Crowd at Mid Michigan Campus
About 2,500 people attended Mid Michigan Community College’s open house at the new Harrison campus. Dave Young said officials were pleased with the turnout as visitors toured a 252 seat lecture hall, 8 500 volumes in the library, 10 classrooms and science labs and vocational areas. The campus now hosts 605 students with most programs in the building and MMCG offices vacated Clare County and Harrison sites. Future plans include a student lounge and cafe above the administrative wing within a year.

Harrison Man Receives Army Commendation Medal
Pfc. Craig A. Richardson of Harrison earned the Army Commendation Medal with V device for actions on October 12, 1969, with Company D, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry. He also received the Air Medal for more than 25 combat flights from September to October 1969 with the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam. Richardson, a Harrison High School graduate, enlists in February and is the fourth Richardson son to serve.

Hospital Board Elects Officers
The Clare Osteopathic Hospital board held its annual reorganizational meeting last Tuesday. A new member was named, Dr. W. L. Graham of Beaverton, replacing Dr. A. S. Mackenzie who moves to Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital. Officers for 1970 were re elected: Frank Coker president, Walter Hunt vice president, Malcolm Whitford secretary, and Clarence Riedel treasurer.
