District Assn Meeting Draws Rebekahs and Lodges in City
More than 100 Rebekahs, Odd Fellows and friends gathered at Mare L0.C.F. hall for the district association. Ernest Green opened the meeting, a flag was presented, and a varied program followed including readings, solos, baton twirling, and a humorous skit. Floyd Seeley elected president after Otis Tripp’s resignation. Norman Hayward paid tribute to the late Grand Master Andrew Bradford. A floral offering and benediction closed the session with plans for a February meeting at Mt. Pleasant.

George Jackson Dies at Home in Clare After Ill Health
George Thomas Jackson died at his home in Clare at 6 45 Friday evening after three years of ill health. He was 84 years old, born March 7 1861 in Ontario. He moved to Clare in 1890 and worked as a lumber scaler and concrete contractor. He served as Third Ward Supervisor and is survived by his wife Maria and children Charles Arthur Thomas James Herbert John Harold Anna (who died in infancy) Roy and Harold.

Dunlop Receives Distinguished Flying Cross in RAF Ceremony
2nd Lt. Donald A. Dunlop of Clare was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf Cluster for heroism and the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters for meritorious achievement during aerial flight at the Greensboro AAF Replacement Depot ceremonies. He had not received the decorations overseas and soon afterward received inactivation orders from the Army Air Forces.
