Farwell prepares for January 14 15 Homecoming with a 40 member cast of 40 women and 40 men presenting Everybody's Here under the Farwell Woman's Club auspices. Expected attendees include Lowell Thomas Sir Cedric and Lady YFeatherbone Amelia Earhart from New York and the Governor with his sister. The show follows the famous womanless wedding and promises mirth beauty and spectacle.
Clare County farmers can have their cattle blood tested for Bangs disease at no charge through a federal plan. Herds may be accredited after three clean tests within a year, with a 90 day gap between the second and third tests. Indemnities of 25 dollars for grade cattle and 50 dollars for purebreds are paid, with testing coordinating through state and federal officials from Lansing.
The Farwell Women's Club hosted its annual Christmas party at Mrs. BE W Brown's home with Mrs Brown and Mrs Marjory Brimmer as hostesses. Mrs Minerva Richmond presided as president, 23 members answered roll call with Christmas quotations.
Fur seals show bulls reaching maturity at six to seven years while cows bear their first pup at three years after gestation of over eleven months. Bulls average over 500 pounds at maturity, cows about 75 pounds. Marking experiments estimate bulls live to about fifteen years and cows to about twenty.
Mr and Mrs Kirchmer and Miss Ardis Terwilliger and Miss Anne Scott of Lansing called at the Geo Scott home New Years evening. Several families from Flint Lansing and Clare visited or hosted gatherings during the holiday period including the Halsteads Tryon Scott Irwin Oman and Cornell households. Elizabeth Oman remained in Mt Pleasant for college and other relatives were out of town on weekend visits and shopping trips.
