Ogemaw Arenac schedule now 80 cents a barrel as lake shipments halted triggering market concerns. Pipeline firms McClanahan and Simrall cited lake navigation closure as primary cause and expect the cut to be temporary.

Pheasants Increase in Local Sanctuary This Winter
Clare Rod and Gun Club members report a surge in pheasants with at least 200 birds feeding in the sanctuary set by the Department of Conservation last summer. Fifteen feeders across fourteen locations have consumed 76 pounds of feed in one week across two feeders, and 1100 pounds this season. The Sentinel congratulates Leehove and assistants for conservation efforts at the private sanctuary near the public game preserve on the northern edge of Clare.

Vernon Pioneer L. G. Gardner Dies at 77
Lemeul Charles Gardner a Vernon Township resident since 1948 died at his home January 1 1988 at age 77 years 9 months and 20 days. He was born March 9 1860 in Litchfield Michigan and moved with his family to Indian Territory before homesteading in Section 32. He lived in Michigan except for railroad work and left a wife seven children 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral was private at his Vernon home with interment in Riverside Cemetery Mt. Pleasantτυχ

Dover man brings crate of barred stock to market
Arthur Saul of Dover delivered a crate containing 14 barred stock roosters to the Farmers Independent Produce Co on Tuesday and received a check of 22 dollars. The crate weighed 104 pounds, about 7 1/2 pounds per bird.
