Clare High School Pioneers travel to St. Louis for a return game after a 36-21 win earlier this season. Preliminary start at 7 30, varsity to follow. Next Tuesday they visit Beaverton, aiming to repeat last season 24 14 victory. Harrison comes to town Friday for the first meeting this season.

Sugar stamp No 39 becomes valid for five pounds of sugar starting January 1 1946 and remains usable for four months until April 30 1946 Stamp No 38 expired December 31 1945 and is now worthless The OPA says sugar will be rationed through most of 1946 with industrial users getting roughly the same allotment in the first three months as in late 1945 Adjustments apply to makers of jams jellies fruit butters and marmalades but no general change in totals.

Ermey Hammond Dies at 56 in Clare Michigan
Ermey S. Hammond longtime Midway Restaurant operator died of a heart attack at his home 114 East Fourth Street Clare Michigan on December 27 1945 aged 56. He promoted boxing and wrestling in Central Michigan and was active in civic affairs in Mt. Pleasant and Clare. He leaves wife Hazel two daughters Aritha and Blanchard son Donald a sister Mae and brother Glenn. Funeral at Stinson Funeral Home Mt. Pleasant with burial in Chippewa township cemetery under Elks Lodge auspices.

Twelve Injured As Truck Stalls North Of Clare
Twelve people are injured in two crashes near Clare. Alvin Rise’s stalled semi on US 27 drew Thomas Scofie’s car into its rear injuring six passengers. Moments later Clarence Van Buskirk’s car hit the Rise truck, injuring six more. A separate crash near Glare on US 10 involved Amos Badgero’s car. no injuries. Michigan Highway Department Posts Wartime Progress and Postwar Plans
The Michigan State Highway Department reports completing the wartime maintenance of about 2380 miles of trunk lines with a 10.5 million dollar program yearly. The postwar plan envisions 500 projects including 200 bridges and 1600 miles of reconstruction and a new sign system as federal funds and labor improve.

Jas McKay Hurt in Ball at Farm North of Clare
James McKay was injured near Clare when a bale fell on him from a hay mow at the McKay farm. He suffered fractured ribs bruises and shock, was treated at Clare Hospital then returned home to recover. He is said to be recovering satisfactorily but cannot be about for some time.

Pioneer Mrs Anna Hubel Dies After 61 Years Local Resident
Mrs Anna Hubel aged 83 and two months died Sunday morning after a three week illness. Born Mary Ann Field in Hereford England she came to Canada at 18 and Detroit a year later. She married Harry P Hubel in 1883 and lived on a Clare area farm since 1884. Surviving children number six with sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Interment at Cherry Grove Cemetery after services January 1 1946 with Rev H B Johnson officiating.

Congregational Church to Form Junior Pilgrim Fellowship
A Junior Pilgrim Youth Fellowship will be organized at the first meeting next Sunday January 15 at 6 30 pm in the chick parlors. Officers will be elected and plans for group studies announced.
