Michigan lawmakers wrap 1972 session with major reforms
The Michigan legislature completed a broad 1972 session funding K 12 and higher education plus mental health and general government. It advanced a mass transit tax plan, no fault insurance, environmental rules, consumer protections, billboard limits, wilderness protection, and tax and public works measures. It also expanded lottery, tax, and court staffing programs and empowered agencies to regulate land sales and child protection.
