The largest class in the Amry Air Forces Training Command’s central unit graduated February 8 from eleven advanced schools in Texas and Oklahoma. Pilots earned silver wings and commissions, joining the world’s greatest air force with graduates from multiple states and territories. Second Lieutenant Stanley W. Burdo of Clare received wings after training at Moore Field Mission Texas.

He trained in twin engine aircraft and was assigned from a basic flying school and is a former student of Lawrence Tech College Detroit Pecos Army Air Field is a station of the AAF Training Command largest educational system in the world.

Mrs Harris Dies in Mt. Pleasant Hospital
Maude Martha Stevenson Harris born January 5 1882 in Edmore Michigan died February 9 1944 at Mt. Pleasant Community Hospital aged 62. She married Sylvester Harris in 1899 and leaves husband four children six sisters two brothers and many relatives. Funeral held at Lake George Baptist Church with Rev I W Wyrick and Rev Harle Redman. burial in Surrey Township Cemetery Farwell.

Oil well in Hatton township yields gas pressure as it nears acidization
The Citizens State Bank No. 2 oil well in Hatton township was drilled by J. C. Arthurs Drilling Co for Freeman Oil Co of Clare. It came in Monday, was swabbed Tuesday, has shown intermittent good gas pressure, and is expected to be acidized Friday.

Farwell Pioneer Lady Dies At Daughter's Home
Wilma Sabina Finney born October 23 1861 near Laceyville Pennsylvania died February 3 1944 at her Farwell Michigan home aged ninety two years three months and ten days. She lived in the area over sixty years and was related to Abraham Lincoln and Charles Finney. She served in Civil War era lint bandages and shared memories of battles with her family. She married George W Shumway March 14 1867 and had three daughters Mrs Etta Brown Mrs Lillian McGinnis and Mrs Iva Rowe.
