Detroit Oil Firms Boost Wildcat Drilling in Clare County

The Hagle Oil Corporation of Detroit began operation Tuesday on an oil well in Surrey township Clare County. Wicklund Development Company spudded in in Vernon with a drive pipe below 200 feet. An explosion was heard but deemed non serious. Several wells show activity with Cur tin and Dundee prospects and one on Wilson Estate declared dry after a futile attempt.

The Central Michigan Funeral Directors Association held its regular meeting January 28 at the Thurston Funeral Home. President A. H. Bradley of Midland presided as topics of interest were discussed. A banquet followed at the Dunlop Cafe with a roast chicken dinner. Members planned to meet again in Coleman on February 25.

President's Birthday Ball a Wonderful Success in Clare

The Clare Community hall was full for the President's Birthday Ball on January 30. The event featured red and white decor and a photo of Roosevelt. George Strouse Dies After Brief Illness of Scarlet Fever
