Central Michigan College hosts a safety patrol recognition day on January 22 announced by P A Wickstrom of the Central Michigan Division of Field Services. Consumers Power plans $73 million for Outstate Michigan expansion
Consumers Power Company announced a 1955 budget of about $73 million to expand electric and natural gas service across 64 Outstate Michigan counties. The plan includes $11.7 million to extend natural gas to 280 cities and townships, nearly $17 million for electric distribution upgrades, and about $6.2 million for service centers in Adrian, Traverse City and Alma along with vehicles and equipment.

Fire destroys 20 by 30 chicken house killing 250 hens
Jake Seibt farm two miles east of town lost 250 laying hens when a 20 by 30 chicken house burned last Thursday night. The fire started from a faulty socket and spread near the barn, with neighbors and Clare and Coleman Fire departments aiding. The Seibts, returning from Mt Pleasant after 11, found only the hens dead and other buildings intact.

Two Men Plead Guilty After Christmas Disorder
Two men from Rosebush, Donald D. Prout, 29, and George Elias Jr., 23, were arrested by Clare and State Police for disorderly conduct at a Farwell restaurant on Christmas Eve. They pled guilty before Judge William B. Duntop in Clare Municipal Court. Prout was fined 67.70 with 4.30 costs. Elias 70.70 with 4.80 costs. Farwell police and state authorities arranged the arraignment when the local justice was out of town.

Giant two cycle compressor retools Michigan gas field
A Cooper Bessemer engine driven compressor is being assembled at Francis Loomis Welding Shop in Clare County Michigan. The skid mounted unit will be moved to the West Hamilton Field northeast of Harrison to boost gas pressure for delivering to Dow at Midland. The two stage compressor will raise pressure from 20 pounds to 400 pounds and handle up to 3 million cubic feet daily.
