Vernon No. 1 Archbold on section 8 and McIntosh No. 1 on section 6 are expected to come in as good producers after casing and cementing. Archbold showed an initial oil showing but drilling paused for casing, now at about 3925 feet. McIntosh resumed after casing to 3900 feet, a lost bit halted progress. Crowley well in Vernon and Frank Robison in Grant township Clare County declared dry, casings being pulled. Lincoln township wildcat reported below 1700 feet.

John Shumway Killed by Motorist in Lansing Streets
John Shumway former Clare resident died Friday night after being struck at the Kalamazoo and River streets intersection in Lansing. The driver said glare from car lights prevented seeing him as he traveled about twenty five miles per hour. Funeral and burial at Thurston Funeral Home were conducted by Rev. Albert Dawe. He is survived by brothers Forest M. Shumway of Clare and Frank Shumway of Newark, Ohio.
