Fall From Scaffold Injures Clare Man Near Temple
While working on a building near Temple by the Pure Oil Company Monday Albert Askran of this city fell twelve feet when the scaffold gave way. He was taken to McArthur Strange hospital at Mt. Pleasant with back contusions and a dislocated right shoulder.

Henry Dell dies suddenly at daughter’s home
Henry Dell eighty four, longtime Farwell resident, died suddenly last Sunday at daughter Mrs. George Orr’s home. He is survived by ten children, twenty nine grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, and a wide circle of relatives. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Church of God with burial in Surrey cemetery.

The Clare Kiwanis Club and the local American Legion Post staged a donkey basketball charity game on the high school floor closing the 1938 sports season. Eighth graders and freshmen opened with a 15-11 win for the grade boys. the main event ended roughly tied as the Kiwanians won 16-8 in scorekeeping, with Art Damoth starring for the Legion and Ed Johnston the Legion’s top scorer with four points.
