Samuel Henderson of Grant township died Monday morning after a prolonged illness. He had moved two weeks earlier to stay near his sister at the Joiner home east of the city. Funeral services were held Thursday from Thurston Funeral Home with Rev. A. D. Telcer officiating and burial in Cherry Grove cemetery.
The black and green license plates may be used on vehicles until March 1 1939. Previous laws allowed extensions to April 1 1937 but the 1937 Legislature fixed March 1 as the final date. Reciprocity with other states allows use of plates outside the state until the deadline. People planning to purchase plates are urged to do so soon to avoid delays and extra costs.
Four Lake residents suffered injuries in a Monday night head-on crash on US 10 near the Glare Mecosta county line. The car driven by Robert Burg of Lake and another vehicle driven by William Kurz of Gladwin collided. Burg passenger William Hart Rosa Hunt and Louise Hass were treated at Clare County General Hospital. Kurz was uninjured.
Monica McConnell daughter of Ray and Mrs McConnell Rosebush and John W Kelly son of Mr and Mrs Kelly Grand Haven wed at St Henry’s on December 28. Rev Father Tomaszewski conducted nuptial mass. A reception followed at the Roherty Hotel Clare. They will reside in Manistique.
The Clare Oddfellows and Rebekahs held their annual Christmas party at the O O F hall on Friday evening December 23. Seventy five members and families attended. The program featured readings recitations songs piano solos and a children’s drill directed by Mrs. George Wilkie. The event concluded with a Christmas treat and a vote that the evening was very successful.
Michigan oil producers in Clare county voluntary proration of 50 barrels per day per well after Simrall Corp cuts prices up to 14 cents a barrel. Bloomingdale field flush production cited as trigger for price drops, with Pure Oil and Buckeye affected but not fully stepped in.
After a Clare street fight J B Marley of this city and Harold Murphy of Grant township were held by Chief Dunlop and Officer Hanley and brought before Justice Fred Hudson. J B Marley was fined 16 dollars plus 5 dollars costs for assault and battery while Harold Murphy paid 5 dollars plus 4 50 costs for disorderly conduct. Officers vow to curb disorderly conduct in Clare and warn there will be no leniency.

The Clare County Child Health Association will hold a meeting at Dover school on Wednesday January 4 with Dr McConnel the Children's Fund dentist as speaker. On Thursday January 5 preschool clinics in Harrison at 4 00 pm and in Clare at 1 00 pm offer diphtheria immunization and smallpox vaccination.
The Citizens State Bank will be closed all day Monday due to a legal holiday.

Poultry chief G Card notes annual state income from poultry about 45 million dollars and eggs forming most of it, with 180000 of Michigan 196000 farms having poultry as a sideline.
Fred Allen a longtime Sheridan township resident died Wednesday after a months long illness. Funeral services will be held from Eagle church Saturday afternoon. The life sketch will appear next week.
The annual stockholders meeting of Citizens State Bank of Clare Michigan will be held in the Directors room on Tuesday January 10 at 8 p m. The agenda includes election of Directors and other business as may properly come before the meeting.
Word reached here of the death of Warren T. McCray former governor of Indiana at his farm home near Kentland Indiana He built Tamarack Lodge on Lake George and kept a summer home there while in office He was well known in this community and at Lake George and friends mourn his passing.
At the home of the bride’s parents in Sheridan township, Miss Gladys Marie Hemstreet married Paul Mercer of Pinconning in a 6:30 PM ring ceremony. Rev. Chas. Kleinhardt officiated. The couple plans to reside on a Pinconning area farm after January 1.
Mrs Clara F Lowe 76 widow of Rev J H Lowe died suddenly Monday at her Midland home. Survived by son Leo Midland, brother Wesley Van Sickle Jersey Settlement Ont and sister Mrs Wallington House Hamilton Ont. Funeral at home Thursday 2:00 pm. interment Midland cemetery. Rev and Mrs Lowe longtime residents. moved to Midland about thirty years ago to be near their son.
