Fire protection plan approved for Clare city and townships
The Clare City Commission and four townships agreed to continue a cooperative fire service for the coming year with a millage set at 0.7. Fire Chief Don Brinkerhoff reported 94 alarms since January with 32 in the city and 60 in townships and urged replacement of two aging trucks. Township officials backed purchasing new equipment if funds remained in a contingency.
