State Selective Service announced that over 262,000 Michigan registrants face revised orders to produce for the war or fight in it. Local boards will reclassify older age groups to fill larger induction calls while preserving wartime production.
John Q. Look Lodge No. 404 FP. & A. M. will install its newly elected and appointed officers on St Johns Night next Wednesday evening December 27 starting at 7 30 o clock. Past Matrons Patrons and Past Masters will be honored. Members their families and friends are invited to attend the public installation.
Nellie J Priest Thurston a Clare resident of 44 years died at home after a heart attack on Tuesday morning. Born November 6 1875 in Wixom Michigan she moved to Northville as a girl and married Charles A Thurston in 1897. The couple had two sons Albert H and Russell A and moved to Clare in 1900. She was active in Zenobia Chapter 129 OES LaTosca Hive 170 MACCABEES and Congregational Church. Funeral Friday at 2 pm from Thurston Funeral Home with Revs Harold Watson H B Johnson officiating burial at Cherry Grove cemetery. She is survived by her two sons and many friends and relatives.
Gas rationing stamps A-13 expired at midnight last night and stamps A-14 became valid today for four gallons each. B-4 and C-4 expire December 31 and B-8 and C-8 become valid January 1 for five gallons each. Stamps B-5 and 65 with B-6 and C-6 remain valid for five gallons each until further notice.
Dorothy Hoyschele announces she will collect taxes at Citizens State Bank every Saturday until further notice. The message directs taxpayers to appear and settle obligations with Treds.
The 1945 AAA community and county election ran December 13 to 16. Delegates and chairs were chosen in Hamilton Franklin Garfield Surrey Lincoln Free man Hatton Hayes Frost Winterfield Grant Greenwood Redding Summer field Arthur townships. The eight communities’ delegates met December 16 at the county office and elected the county committee with Robert C Kleiner as Chairman Franklin Littlefield as Vice Chairman and Artine A Lower as Member.

Percy Cutting formerly of Elm Grove and now of Center Road Saginaw was killed in action in Italy on September 29. His parents Mr and Mrs George Cutting and their three other sons are overseas. Marie Horton of Farwell reports her brother Pat Andrew Bursigh 7% in the US infantry in France previously seriously injured and in a hospital in New York. Andy, known to friends, often visited his sister during college at Mt Pleasant.
Michigan will obtain about 50 million dollars in postwar federal highway aid to be distributed over three years at roughly 16.68 million annually with a 50 50 state match. Congress approved the bill setting 500 million dollars per year for three years nationwide and outlines allocations for federal aid highways urban areas and secondary roads.

Phillis Sternaman of Clare High School was chosen by faculty and the senior class to represent at the D A R good citizen convention in Mt Pleasant. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Earl Sternaman of Clare and serves as senior class secretary. Last year Rosemary Wright and the year before Roberta McKnight held the honor.
St. Cecilia's observes Christmas with an outdoor crib project by the Parish Council of the National Council of Catholic Women. Fr. Brophy will celebrate Midnight Mass, a carol procession, and the Mass of the Angels by the newly formed children’s choir. Confessions are scheduled Friday evening and Saturday afternoon and evening.

Clare county officials report oversubscription of both individual and corporation quotas in the Sixth War Loan drive though more than half of the EB bond quota had been subscribed. The campaign extension to December 23 aims to reach the overall E bond quota with corporate purchases credited, including $7,000 in bonds bought by Kraft Cheese Company for Clare county.
Clare High School debaters won the regional contest here Wednesday by remaining undefeated. Luther High School placed second with three wins and one loss. Other schools included Oscoda, West Branch, and East Tawas. Four Clare teams competed with faculty judges and chaperons, earning a fifth consecutive honorary plaque for excellence in debating and a chance to compete as regional champs.
