Willis Bouchey of Clare built a 24 head Holstein herd and a registered herd sire in three years. He sources up to 1000 pounds of milk daily for the Clare plant and uses a feedlot with chopped green forage to boost milk output. He plans barn expansion, silage in the barn, and hay in the feed lot, while monitoring individual yields with a milk testing kit.

Clare senior Mary Maloney wins DAR Good Citizen Award

Mary Maloney, Clare High School senior, chosen by faculty and classmates for the DAR Good Citizen Award. Local DAR sponsors the annual contest with winners receiving pins and a tea, and invites from Clare, Farwell, and Harrison to a state conference in Detroit. Accident verdict after McJames inquest in Clare

A coroner's jury ruled Leonard McJames died of accidental injury with unknown cause after findings tied to skull fracture. Police and experts noted no clear evidence of foul play, while Dr. Kassa suggested the injury was from a more violent impact than a fall. The inquest could be reopened if new evidence emerges.

Christmas Mail Load Near Record at Clare Post Office

Monday was the second busiest day in Clare Post Office history with 19 130 pieces processed at the cancellation machine plus thousands from other offices. 18 354 pieces were dispatched Tuesday. An all time record was 22 219 last year. regular staff handle the load with no extra help. More mail is dispatched directly to destinations instead of forwarding to Saginaw.

Continue Seal Buying Is Appeal in Clare Area

Clare area residents were reminded that the TB Christmas Seal campaign continues until December 24. Jim Dunlop, manager of the local Seal Sale, urged more purchases and use of the seals despite the Christmas rush. Man kicked from Greyhound bus charged with disorderly conduct

Sarnia Ontario man S B Wilson 667 was held in Clare county jail until December 16 and pleaded guilty in Clare Municipal Court. He was fined court costs of 4.30 and turned over to Sarnia Border Patrol. Police also investigated two downtown Clare collisions involving Beech Street and West Fifth and a Fifth Street turn that caused injuries to Alfred Smith Jr and facial lacerations to his passenger. Hovey was cited for failure to yield right of way.
