A rural Clare dispute on December 10 left Mrs. Wright with a skull fracture after a rifle discharge during the fight between Charles Wright and Homer Pelcher and Raymond Pelcher. The Pelchers were charged with assault and battery, jailed in Clare County, arraigned December 18, pleaded guilty, and given 30 days plus one year probation, with conditions to stay out of Clare and away from Wright.

The Highland Gun Club four miles north of Clare on US-27 hosts a turkey and ham shoot this Sunday December 19. It is the last shoot of the season and marks a Christmas sponsored event for a second year. Last year drew 120 shooters with hams and turkeys awarded to winners.

Famed 1854 Sea Heroine Abigail Becker Honored by Detroit Group
The Detroit Marine Historical Society highlighted Abigail Becker, hero of the 1854 Conductor rescue, as great grandmother to Clare area residents.
