Kiwanis Paper Sale Promises Charity Fundraiser Saturday
The Clare Kiwanis Club plans its annual Good fellow newspaper sale this Saturday December 15. Members will hawk specially printed Sentinel supplements on downtown streets to aid underprivileged children. The one page edition bears a red seven inch Kiwanis emblem and prices vary by donor.

Nine Girls Advance To Senior Scouting Honors
Clare's first Girl Scout troop received official recognition at a large ceremony with Girl Scouts, Brownies, and parents. Nine members of the senior program received Senior Tie of the Order awards during the organization ceremony. Brownie and troop leaders oversaw pinning of first and second year Brownie pins, with many named girls listed for their new investments. A candlelight ceremony and verses accompanied the investiture, as Allyson Ruby and Candace Walton earned further pins.

Santa Party in Clare Draws 2000 Children Saturday
More than 2,000 Clare area youngsters are to greet Santa Claus this Saturday December 15. The parade forms at 2 30 p m with escorts by the Clare Fire Department and riders in fire trucks. The Clare Tire Department organizes the candy packing and parade while the Clare Chamber of Commerce funds the event. Lucky tickets with prizes await nearly 100 children as they search store windows for numbers to match treat box numbers. Children enter the fire hall park on Fifth Street and exit on Fourth Street where trucks marshal the parade and Santa rides a trailer pulled by a truck.
