Farwell youth dies in truck accident Monday night
Philip Arthur Miles aged thirteen nearly fourteen died instantly when he fell from a truck returning from a Boy Scout meeting near the Farwell school. He was a Farwell School student, Boy Scout troop 115 member, and part of the Odd Fellow orchestra. Funeral held at Farwell Methodist Church.

Former Clare resident Carrie Nowlin dies at 82 in Dearborn
Carrie B Nowlin born November 28 1864 in Denton Michigan died December 4 1946 after a short illness at age 82. She married Henry T Nowlin February 10 1887 he died 1919. Survived by son Alger A Nowlin and daughter Nina A McGuire and granddaughter Mrs Richard B Aberg. Funeral Friday at Clare Methodist Church with burial at Cherry Grove cemetery.

Clare Plant To Add Ford Unit With 200 New Jobs
Clare Manufacturing Company and Moline Construction Company completed a $100,000 factory contract to erect a 100 by 200 foot building on land recently acquired from the city. The plant will produce and assemble a new Ford distributor unit, costing $200,000 in equipment and bringing total investment to $300,000. About 200 workers will be needed for the new unit plus 40 more soon, with local recruitment and housing concerns rising as production begins.

Clarissa Jane Carrier died Monday December 9 after a long illness at age 83 in Midland County. She lived in Clare until 1915 then moved to Midland. survived by four sons George Wayne Walter Frank, one daughter Mrs John McDonald, two sisters in Canada, twenty nine grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren and twenty one great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Wilson Funeral Home in Midland at 1:00 p.m. Thursday with interment at Cherry Grove cemetery in Clare.
