Judge Ray Hart Laid at Rest in Midland
Funeral services for Judge Ray Hart of Midland were held at 1:30 Friday from his home, with Rev. Robert Hotelling officiating and burial in Midland Cemetery. Hart, 76, served 80 years on the 21st circuit bench across Clare Isabella and Midland counties, retiring last December 1. He was born in Midland in 1872 and helped shape Michigan oil law through decisions cited as foundational. He leaves a large family and was a former mayor of Midland.

Clare Hospital Inc will keep operating as a nonprofit entity separate from medical practice. Despite higher costs in food salaries and linen, rates rise only modestly. The hospital plans to fund deficits with private capital until the community supports a county hospital. New equipment includes a Resuscitator and an ECG with direct recording. Over 100 blood donors have been typed. volunteers and donors receive free service and blood type cards. Staff additions include two RNs Yvonne Scott and Margaret Jensen and Aileen Fenby RT in charge of the lab.
