The Michigan Department of Agriculture and State Police posted Christmas tree inspection posts in multiple cities led by Director Charles Figg. So far 42 prosecutions occurred this season with many violators being deer hunters or those transporting multiple trees. The Bureau of Plant Industry reports 40,000 trees checked, 500 bough tongs, and 20 carloads of trees shipped from outside Michigan.
