Youth admits obscene phone calls in Clare area
Clare Chief Elly Tice said a 16 year old youth was charged with making obscene telephone calls to women and girls. Local and state agencies traced the calls with Michigan Bell gear. The minor cannot be named. the court may order psychiatric treatment or detention and fines.

State Police Launch Special Labor Day Holiday Traffic Watch
State Police announce an intensive patrol during the long Labor Day weekend from Friday noon September 11 to Monday midnight September 14. Peak enforcement will occur between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. with vehicle inspection lanes suspended and drivers urged to observe safety rules to prevent accidents and fatalities. Col. Farwell Plans Labor Day Carnival Parade and Games

Work Starts On US 27 Stretch Improvements
Work has begun on US 27 improvements in Clare County and extending into Ros common. A non skid surface treatment is applied to highway and ramp shoulders. MMPA Halts Sale To Deans In Evart Michigan
Michigan Milk Producers halted milk deliveries to Dean's Food Company Evart plant after alleging refusal to pay MMPA price. Bottling price for milk to Dean's Evart is 6.31 per hundredweight translating to about 13 1 2 cents per quart. Don Myers noted farmers are paid under a base excess plan averaging around 5.40 per hundredweight.
