Injuries In Auto Crash Fatal To Mrs Meslin
Mrs Fred Meslin of Marion died at the local hospital Sunday after an auto accident in the Black Hills near Lake. Funeral rites were held in Marion. Survived by husband a daughter Doris and mother Mrs Mary Woodward of Cadillac. Meslin and Willard Gilman improved while Chas Forbes remained serious. Mr Phillips has been discharged.

Elwood Sanderson Promoted to Clare County Maintenance Chief
Elwood Sanderson of Farwell is promoted to superintendent of Clare County Maintenance by State Highway Commissioner Murray Van Wagoner. He will head from the State Highway Garage in this city with a record of six promotions and prior work with Hersey Gravel and Remus Construction. Perl Tryon of Lake and Garfield township supervisor is named county maintenance foreman. The Clare County highway system has been well kept since state control, including a notable 1935-36 snow removal effort.

State designates 800 acres as wildlife sanctuary
An 800 acre tract in Grant township Clare County has been designated a wildlife sanctuary by the State conservation commission and closed to hunting and trapping for five years. The Clare Rod and Gun club sponsored the designation with 19 landowners cooperating. The sanctuary includes lands on section 26 and the northeast quarter of section 35 near the millpond. The area offers good wildlife cover from timber, attracting game from distant areas. The Clare Rod and Gun club and local communities are praised for the effort. Three other sanctuaries were created: 68 acres Bronson township Branch county. 175 acres Leelanaw township Leelanau county. 309 acres Mentamora township Lapeer county.

Seven People Hurt In Morning Auto Crash Near Clare
Seven people were injured Monday night when a car from Flint collided head on with a Portland car four miles south of Clare on US 27. Mr Lucy the most seriously hurt, treated for back and chest injuries as well as multiple cuts. L Blundy driver of the Portland car and passenger Miss Florence Shindorf sustained only minor injuries. All except Mr Lucy released after treatment. both cars badly damaged.
