Banner Thursday At Clare County Fair Draws Big Crowd

The Clare County Fair closed Friday night after a Thursday with several thousand in attendance. Weather was favorable most of the week but dark clouds and thunder appeared later. Exhibits were down due to the absence of school displays and the early fair date. The horse events thrilled crowds but one horse died after winning. The Clare City band and Drum and Bugle Corps performed, while Paul Gibson and J C Kemmis led the fair’s management. About 50,000 attended overall, a factor the organizers cited as both a success and a constraint.
