A Detroit College of Law graduate, he gained early experience with Mason Alexander Ruttie Cox and McCaslin in Detroit and is a Clare native. Flint Teens Arrested in Auto Theft Ring
Officer Thomas Groves and Midland County sheriff arrested Marshall Carr aged 16 and Glen MacDonald aged 17 of Flint after they stole a Zemmer Motor Sales Company car. The youths, who traveled from Flint to Coleman Ludington Clare, were jailed in Harrison awaiting examination. The car was recovered abandoned near a Clare street with gas near empty.

Two Criminal Cases Tried at Circuit Court
At Clare county Circuit Court in Harrison Judge Ray Hart presiding two cases were decided this week. Hindman found guilty of issuing a fraudulent check and sentenced to six months to one year with six months on probation. Ward found not guilty on prohibition charges after two and a half hours. Dysinger Richardson pleaded guilty to larceny and received two years probation with $25 costs. McDonald Carr from Flint pleaded guilty to auto theft and were placed on two years probation with $25 costs. Other calendar items were continued to December term.

Clare Man Loses Memory After Injury
Robert Whitlock, 45, of Clare, is in Mercy hospital Manistee with partial aphasia after a skull fracture from a collision south of Manistee last Tuesday night. Passersby found him at the roadside and he remained unconscious for about 146 hours before regaining memory enough to identify himself and a brother William Whitlock of Traverse City and a sister north of Clare. He could only recall that a car struck him and nothing more.

Sheridan Pioneer Empey Dies After Illness
Valentine Empey, a longtime Colonville resident, died last Thursday after an illness extending from 1926. Born September 1861 near Napanee Ontario he married Sarah Kissick in 1891 and moved to Michigan in 1893. He leaves a daughter Mary Davis four grandchildren a brother John Empey and a sister Annie Hawley. Funeral services were held at Colonville church with Rev. Frank Bates officiating and burial in Cherry Grove cemetery.
