Dr Clyde H Wilcox district governor of Rotary International will visit the Clare Rotary Club for a special meeting Wednesday August 21 at 6 30 p m in Barnes Cafe Dining Room. He will speak after the meeting and likely hold an assembly with club officers and committees. Gene Perrin of Dow Chemical spoke at a noon Rotary meeting detailing chemical control advances for crops weeds storage and harvest timing. The program was arranged by Martin Loomis.

Remodeling at Clare Methodist Church nears finish this week with chancel furniture installed floors refinished and new pews placed. Sunday morning services will return to the auditorium August 18 after three weeks in the basement. Plans also call for Sunday evening services starting September 1 as a tentative program is prepared by a committee at the White home.

Former Clare Resident Sidney Chaffee Dies After Brief Illness
Sidney Chaffee, formerly of Clare and a long-time Clare County resident, died Tuesday at his son Frank's home in Pontiac after a week long illness. Funeral services were held in Ponatine with burial in Cherry Grove cemetery. he was brother to Perry Chaffee of Harrison.
