Burdo Rites Mark Loss Of Clare Business Leader
Stanley J. Burdo, longtime Clare hardware and furniture merchant, died at his Wheaton Avenue home after a heart attack. Born in Poland in 1888, he came to the U S at sixteen, built a family of eight, and led in Elmira Boyne Falls Rockford and Clare ventures. He leaves wife Helen and six sons, a daughter, a granddaughter, sisters and brothers, plus many friends.

Fire Destroys Farm Residence Near Clare
A two story frame house and adjacent woodshed on the Al Mira Stoy farm two miles south and one and a half miles east of Clare burned Friday morning. A son nearby observed flames from the roof but could not reach the roof. Clare Fire Department arrived to find the building engulfed and could not stop the blaze.
