Oil man Glen Hatch found dead in car near home
Glen Hatch an area oil operator tied to Roosevelt Oil Company of Mt. Pleasant was found dead of asphyxiation in his car on Easter Sunday near his home. He had suffered poor health for some time. Funeral services were held in Clare at 2 PM Wednesday.

Clare public schools closed Wednesday afternoon after tornado warnings for the area. Students in Clare and rural district schools were dismissed after noon as Mt. Pleasant schools also closed. Buses ran regular routes amid threatening skies and heavy afternoon showers.

Two Superior DRAMATICS at Michigan Spring Speech Festival

Relatives Attend Funeral for Pierson Family Tragedy
Relatives of Fred Pierson travel from Traverse City to Saginaw for funeral services after Wilmer Pierson and his wife were killed in a highway crash en route to a funeral. Wilmer Pierson, 80, was a Michigan road builder and former Michigan Road Builders director. Fred Pierson and Wilmer are survived by John S Pierson, Wilmer G Pierson, five grandchildren, and Agnes Pierson.

The Clara Rebekah Lodge met with twenty five members at the Farwell IOOF hall. Noble Grand Mrs Ina Hammond presided as officers were announced including Eva Schlafley and Margaret Irwin. Three Osceola directors were added: Godfrey Norman Ernest Simon and Mrs Fern Bontekoe. A finance committee was appointed with Merton Dean Lenard Schwanz James Morton and Jack Beatty as members. The Annual Meeting is planned for May 15 at 8 00 p.m. Letters will go to groups that pledged financial support asking for representation. Legislative funding discussions were held.

A roof and wall blocks were added to the Grove Brothers new variety store with plans for a 40 by 92 foot building featuring basement display space and a Roman brick front. The Gamble’s store, badly damaged in the same fire, reopened last week with a grand opening planned for a later date. Easter Breakfast Program Features Story by Mrs Holbrook
The Easter Breakfast at the church featured Mrs Donald Holbrook narrating The Story of Easter with a felt scene by Mrs Leon Dull. Music by Mrs Arthur Delamarter, solo by Mrs Ray Owens, and closing prayer by Rev L J Nevins. Donations were placed on the altar and breakfast followed in the social parlors with tulips daffodils and lilies on the tables.
