Clare County Chamber Hears Publicity Plans and Band Idea

The Clare Chamber of Commerce met in Barnes Cafe with about 30 members. A publicity committee was formed for city advertising and county maps, while plans to forward photos to Michigan Motor News were approved. A committee will explore forming a city band with Mr Greenfield and others to report next meeting.

Liseam Pudway Dies At Home In Sheridan Township

Following a short illness Liseam Pudway aged 53 years 8 months and 13 days died at his home in Sheridan township early Wednesday morning Funeral services will be held at Colonville church Saturday at 2 00 PM Rev M RR Honderich officiating interment in Cherry Grove cemetery obituary to be published next week.

O'Connor School P T A Closes Year With Election

The O'Connor school P T A held its final meeting of the year on Friday April 16 at the school house. Attendance was light due to a death but members enjoyed a social wrap with officer elections: President Delia Wilds, Vice President Mrs Depung, Secretary Treasurer Frances Fun neil. The program featured students and local performers, ending with an amateur prize for the children.

Amos H Foltz Dies at Daughter's Home in Goodrich

Amos H Foltz age 85 died Sunday at daughter Mrs Ethel Fitch’s home in Goodrich after illness. He was born September 25 1852 Findlay Ohio and married Ellen J Miller in 1883. Survived by widow five children twenty one grandchildren two brothers and many relatives. Funeral services held at Fitch home then burial in McComb Ohio.

Clare Study Club Presents The Twelfth Pound Look Play

The Clare Study Club met at Mrs. Hilda Tibbits home on April 20. A one act play The Twelfth Pound Look by James Barrie was presented by Mrs. Margaret McKnight and Mrs. Jane Keschman. Two piano duets were performed under Mrs. Paul Lowrey's direction. Next meeting is May 4 at Mrs. Fred Doherty's with Mabel Horton as chairman.

Komps Sell Their Log Cabin for Permanent Home

Mr and Mrs Del Komp sold the unique one room log cabin and adjoining property to Mr and Mrs Henry Kin sel who have taken possession. The cabin built as a playhouse for their daughter now Mrs Hallie Wilson of Saginaw hosted The Log Cabin Club with Kemp family ties and later rentals for families seeking space and playgrounds on the lawn.

Vernon Farmer Found Dead In Barn Tuesday Night

Vernon farmer James Crowley aged 69 was found dead in his barn Tuesday night about 10 o clock by his brother. Coroner Dr Baskerville and a deputy sheriff ruled death from a heart attack about twenty four hours earlier. He lived on the homestead for fifty years and is survived by two brothers and a sister. Funeral arrangements were set for Friday at St Henrys church with burial in the church cemetery.

Oil notes from Chartier Currie No 2 report drilling at 3895 feet with Dundee target in reach within five feet and casing to be run next week. Murphy No 1, east of section 6, showed a disappointing shallow Dundee result but nearby leaseholders remain hopeful as pay sand tests are planned nearby.

Enoch Andrus Dies at Clark Memorial Home in Grand Rapids

Enoch Andrus former editor and publisher of The Clare Sentinel and longtime Barry county school official died Saturday evening April 10 at the Clark Memorial Home where he had lived nine years He was 91 and active in Republican politics He leaves a wife Helen Millpaugh four sons including Roy Andrus and six grandchildren Funeral services were held April 13 at the Clark Memorial Home Hastings Leon ard funeral home with burial in Hastings He was praised as a man of integrity intelligence initiative and industry by local observers

Five Injured In Wreck South Of Clare

Ralph Stevens his wife and daughter were injured when their car collided with a vehicle driven by Peter Schnieder of Ludington en route to Mt. Pleasant. Stevens sprained wrist Mrs Stevens bruised face and knees and daughter Mrs Mayme Waack of Columbus Ohio cut about the face. The accident occurred five and a half miles south of Clare on O S 27. Schnieder and his nephew were taken to Mt. Pleasant where the former pled guilty to driving while intoxicated and paid a 50 dollar fine and costs. The nephew paid a fine on a D and D charge. All three suffered cuts to face and head from the windshield.

Richard Allan Loomis born February 25 1932 in Lansing died April 16 1937 at age five after a short illness with measles and a throat infection. Parents Harold and Ida Mae Loomis survive with grandparents Ben Loomis Fred W King and others. Private services were held at Cherry Grove Cemetery with local relatives in attendance.

Buckeye Township Leads Michigan Drilling Permits in Apr

The Michigan Department of Conservation released a bumper batch of drilling permits in mid April led by Buckeye township Gladwin county with eight permits. New tests are staked in sections 11 36 and 13 as offsets and extensions push east and southeast in the Buckeye Wickland pool. Other permits lie in Ogemaw county Churchill township Allegan Salem township and Grant township Clare county marking new tests and offsets in several pools across the state.

Clare Post Leads District Legion Officers Election

At Mt Pleasant the Tenth District American Legion and Auxiliary met for sessions and a banquet. Six new officers were elected including Kyle L McKinnon as District Judge Advocate and William D Harger as District Sergeant at Arm. Revival Meetings at Salon Evangelical Church
