Lionel Duncan Granted Right to Vernon Farm
Judge Ray Hart ruled in favor of Lionel Duncan in the case against the heirs of James Duncan. The decision rests on written statements supporting an oral agreement from 1935 involving Lionel’s move to the Vernon farm to work it on shares with ownership to pass to him on James Duncan’s death. Witnesses described James Duncan’s word being sufficient without a written document. The Mt. Pleasant hearing on November 27, 1937 featured attorneys Holbrook Ryan Dodds for Lionel and Currie for the defendants.
