Bertha Lake Restoration Near Start in Lincoln Township

Bertha Lake in Lincoln Township begins restoration as residents plan to drill a fresh water well to replenish dwindling waters. The project aims to reverse shrinking levels and convert the site into a usable beauty and recreation spot amid uncertain outcomes.

Michigan lake area residents formed a group to address shrinking Bertha Lake water levels. The issue traces to rainfall cycles and underground seepage altering the basin, with a quarter of section 22 rippled by cottage owners around the lake as efforts to survey and legally fix a water level began in 1961 but were tabled to avoid disputes among property owners.
