Ken Barnes president of the lake development corporation said the dike gap could close any day to back up Tobacco river water and create the 120 acre lake in Clare's northwest. Preparatory cleanup and street access work remain. flooding could begin before power pole relocation is finished. State Police report a weekend accident on Grant Avenue north of US-10 involving two local autos. School Bonds Sold At 2.36 Percent Interest Rate
The school board accepted a bid for 275000 dollars in building bonds at an average rate of 2.36 percent. First of Michigan Corporation led six bids with Kenower MacArthur and Company among bidders. Citizens State Bank of Clare offered 2.49 and the high bid reached 2.60 plus. Construction bids for additions to the high school and elementary remodeling are expected, with occupancy likely when school opens in September.
