The Northern District AAA Fieldwomen held a two day conference at Hotel Doherty with representatives from all counties. Mrs Bertha Arnold chaired the meeting and welcomed attendees Tuesday morning. Esther V Smalligan State Fieldwoman outlined AAA history and roles, with panel discussions on AAA duties during and after the war led by Ruth E Ellis and others.

Funeral Services for Malcolm Maybee Held at Center Methodist
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Center Methodist Church for Malcolm H. Maybee with Rev. Kilgren officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery. He is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Harry Maybee of Rosebush two sisters Mrs James Cass and Mrs Ralph Cole of Mt Pleasant two brothers Pic Merle Maybee stationed in the southwest Pacific and Milan at home his grandmother Mrs Mae Ouderkirk of Mt Pleasant two nieces and one nephew and many other relatives and friends. Although an invalid most of his life his pleasing personality won him many friends.

Pure Oil Gallants and Redding Town Board Sell Bonds
Last Wednesday evening the Pure Oil Company and the Gallants Roy B. Ashcraft and Wilfred J. Grisdale, with the cooperation of the Red ding township Town Board, organized a major War Bond drive with over 100 in attendance. Donal E. Holbrook urged buyers to invest in War Bonds, and six volunteers including Don R. Luce of Farwell secured about 5000 dollars in applications, roughly half the township quota.

Randle Home Destroyed by Wednesday Morning Fire
Floyd Randle’s four room residence on County Line Clare suffered extensive damage when a fire, likely from an overheated stove or vent, engulfed the interior about 9:00 am Wednesday while the family was away. Neighbor Mrs Bola McDowell spotted the flames and Clare Fire Department responded too late to save most furnishings and rooms.

Christian Henry Weber longtime Clare County resident died at his Grant township home after months of illness. Born December 11 1869 in Dembach Württemberg Germany he married Lizetta Gebhardt in 1909. Survived by his widow two brothers a sister and many nieces and nephews funeral services were held at Thurston Funeral Home and St John Lutheran Church with interment in Cherry Grove Cemetery.
