Two unmasked gunmen robbed Herbert Storrs and his family at their Rosebush home Friday evening after entering on a pretext of borrowing a shovel. They tied the trio and escaped with about 1100 to 1200 dollars Storrs had saved for medical bills. State Police and Isabella county officials pursued leads, with the younger Storrs treated at Mt. Pleasant hospital for restricted circulation from binding.

Clare Board approves annexation requests from ten districts
The Clare Board of Education on April 10 approved annexation resolutions from Arthur No. 3 Hatton No. 2 Vernon No. 1 Vernon No. 2 Grant No. 6 Wise No. 2 Wise No. 1 Vernon No. 4 Grant No. 7 and Sheridan No. 2. Dr Kino Hammerberg was injured when a westbound locomotive struck his auto on McEwan Street near the Johnston Elevator. He suffered a fractured kneecap and facial injuries, was treated by nurses, operated on, and moved from the office to Saginaw Hospital for recovery on crutches.

Four Detroit Boys Arrested in Lake Hardware Break In
Four teenaged Detroit boys were arrested after a Lake hardware store was broken into Saturday evening. Troopers stopped a car for a traffic violation and found tools matching the missing items. Three of the 17 year olds were arraigned in Clare Municipal Court and fined $50 plus costs and ordered to make restitution. The fourth boy’s case went to probate court due to his minor status.

William E Bowler 74 of Clare died Sunday at Midland hospital after months of ill health. A longtime resident and public worker he served as Clare County Road Commission chairman and high ways superintendent. Survived by widow Jennie Bates four children and many relatives.
