James S and S Duncan 70 died at his home on West Seventh Street after a fall Sunday evening March 28. He had retired from business and lived between Vernon farm and Lake George cottage, with funeral services Friday at two with Rev. H. B. Johnson at the Clare home.

Tragic Carbon Monoxide Death Of Rhodes Baby
A twenty three month old, Stanley Henry Rhodes, died from carbon monoxide exposure in Sheridan township while his father worked a saw car. The tragedy also involved his sisters Dorothy eight and Gladys three, who survived after swift rescue efforts. Funeral services were held at Thurston Funeral Home with burial at Cherry Grove.

Arthur Township Mourns Loss Of Influential Man
John Mathias Rutters son of John and Susanna Roller, born April 17 1858 in Columbiana County Ohio, lived as a pioneer in Van Wert and Arthur townships. He married Annie Rogers in 1885, moved to Michigan in 1904, had seven children, and died at 78 after nine years of ill health. He served in township and school offices and was mourned by a wide circle of relatives and friends at his Arthur town hall service.

Joseph Larson of Grant township is in custody charged with murder after a Wednesday night shooting at the Schug farm 1 12 miles north and 12 west of Clare. The victim, 45, left a widow and two daughters Ruth Marie and Barbara Lou. Funeral services are planned from the home Saturday at two.
