The 4-E Bronc Busters held a surprise at the Wilbur Fletcher home for Dennis Dawson returning home from the hospital. Eleven members gathered Friday night. Dennis entered the dark house and was greeted with a shout of surprise. They played games and received a gift while Mrs. Fletcher provided refreshments.
The Farwell 4-H Club and leaders Mrs. Wilbur Fletcher and Vernon Pratt attended the Block and Bridle Show at Michigan State University in Lansing. Guests included Mrs. Bernard Dawson and Danny Pratt, with Ron Carr aiding transport. They toured university barns to view horses including a stallion from Arabia amid many 4-H groups on the grounds. Farwell High School presents Pinocchio this Friday at 2 pm in the gym with a 1:30 pm matinee for grades K 6. Proceeds go to the Student Exchange Fund as Jaycees promote the show featuring 23 cast members and several elementary students. Valedictorian Patricia Coon and Salutatorian Ruth Ann Bentley headline a class with strong grades and plenty of activity.
William J. Fisher, born July 1 1889 in Farwell, died at 748 Audubon Jackson. He worked with Bell Telephone in Detroit Grand Rapids Jackson and Detroit finally retiring in 1954. Survived by Grace M wife, four children, sister Mabel Fisher, four grandchildren. He served as Boy Scouts district supervisor and Red Cross First Aid instructor. He was a life member of the Michigan Bell Pioneers.
