Formica Pact Brings Wage Increases for Local 757

A new two year contract with Formica Co covers Local 757 members of United Electrical Workers. Provisions include wage negotiations after one year, seven hour daily increase, eight hour day and forty hour week with overtime, improved health and safety measures, stronger seniority rights, six paid holidays, paid vacation based on service, and an enhanced grievance procedure. Union approves two year contract with strike and lockout rights

The Two year contract effective May 28 grants the union wage strike rights at reopen date and allows the company lockout on wages. Negotiating committee members include Moe Kinley Davis and Helen Ferguson with Elmer Kauffman Mae Rist Carl Flach Earl Hessler and William Burton. District 7 president Lem Markland assisted. Oscar Thornton attended a family funeral. Obie Phelps and Olva Phelps also took time for relatives' funerals.

Cincinnati and Bridgeport locals voted to strike. ratification occurred last Thursday.
